Types of Recognition Awards for Kids' Baseball

Little league baseball provides an opportunity for children to compete and socialize while school is out of session during the summer. Choose awards that emphasize both the sport and the social growth accomplished by playing.

    • Infosports.com recommends personalizing the awards so there is one for each child. Base them on characteristics of superheroes, such as speed, strength and agility. Name the awards after superheroes and present them to the players with their photos, along with photos of the superheroes.

    Features

    • Choose an award that includes the child's name. This can be a plaque, trophy or print out. Personalizing it with the child's name helps to make them feel special.

    Effects

    • Presenting awards to each player at the end of the season recognizes their contributions to the team. At this age, trophies just for participating help the children feel they accomplished a goal.

    Time Frame

    • Have an awards ceremony to present the end-of-season awards within a couple weeks of the season. This limits the chance of a new sports season overlapping with the awards ceremony. If possible, include the year for that season on the award.

    Fun Fact

    • Not every award has to be based on statistics or production. If a player did not play much because of injury or other concerns, an award can be presented to that player for "most team spirit" or "best team supporter."
