Rubber-Duck Races
-
Organize a rubber-duck race to raise money for your youth group. Purchase a large number of rubber ducks, and paint a number on each one. Determine how much money you would like to raise per duck as part of the benefit. Have the children or their parents contact family friends and relatives to sponsor a duck that will be in the race. Ask local businesses to help your youth group by offering prizes for the owners of the winning ducks. In exchange place advertisements for these sponsors at the race.
After you have sold all of the ducks you wish to sell, invite all the duck owners to a location to watch the race. This can be a local waterway such as a creek or river, anything with a current. Start the race with each of the ducks lines up behind a starting line and blow a whistle allowing them to start. Award donated prizes to the top five finishers in the race.
Free The Celebrity
-
Ask a local business owner or neighborhood celebrity to donate his time to help your youth group raise money. Tie him into a chair in a public location, and announce that he will not be able to leave that chair until your youth group meets a specified money-raising goal. If you do not wish to tie the individual to a chair, consider other options such as having her sit in a dunk tank until a certain amount of money is raised, or have him wear apparel that is embarrassing to him such as clothing typically worn by the opposite sex.
Scratch Cards
-
Easy-fundraising-ideas.com recommends purchasing scratch-off cards and selling them as a fundraiser. These cards are similar to lottery scratch-off cards, but will have your youth group's name on them, and they can be created with a theme that you choose to match the interests of your organization. These scratch-off cards can be created for youth sports teams, church groups, school groups or private youth clubs. Easy-rundraising-ideas.com claims that the youth group will receive a 90 percent profit by selling these scratch off cards based on the odds of winning in each set distributed to each youth group.
