Choose the course that is relevant to your current skill level and experience. This is an important step to think about carefully to maximize the efficiency of the courses you undertake. Many courses are available, such as the 1st4Sport entry-level coaching certificate, up to advanced professional-level qualifications like the UEFA A and PRO licenses. Consider special modules like Goalkeeping Coaching Level 1 and Coaching Disabled Footballers, amongst others, to achieve the relevant qualifications.

Get experience and achieve the level 1 and level 2 awards. As these are entry-evel awards, it is vitally important to accompany these qualifications with all the experience you can find. Usually after the completion of a level 1 award it is possible to find work at your local Coaching in the Community office, at schools during the holidays, through your county council and at local clubs.

Work hard, prepare hard, wear a smile and enjoy the game. As a coach you are responsible for so much more than just running training sessions. You are responsible for the mental and physical conditioning of your players -- shouldering their expectations, being a sympathetic ear or firm hand and being able to execute these coaching nuances across all age groups. If you can do this, you can be a success and move on to start your professional coaching license qualifications.
