- National C license a minimum of one year, or a National Soccer Coaches Association Advanced National Diploma
- Soccer ball
- Shin pads
- Goalie gloves
- Shorts
- Soccer shirt

Email the U.S. coaching department at coaches@ussoccer.org, or call 312-528-1219 for a National B application.

Review the C level course materials and become familiar with the techniques and concepts in the U.S. Soccer's "Best Practices for Coaching" manual before attending the course. Read the FIFA "Laws of the Game" booklet and complete the corresponding exam.

Take thorough notes in class, and do the homework. Initiate discussions with instructors and fellow campers about the course, techniques, practices, etc.

Be as specific and concise as possible when answering the oral exam questions to maximize you point value. The oral exam consists of one tactical question and one methodological question. You must pass both questions in order to pass the course.
