Qualities of a Good Team
-
Winning
-
Good teams are first and foremost measured by how many victories they compile. Victories, league championships and tournament titles, as well as state and national championships, often define how successful a team has been.
No Individuals
-
While individuals comprise team rosters, to be successful, individuals must be willing to put the team first. Good teams are filled with individuals that put the team's needs first while placing individual statistics and glory aside.
Leadership
-
Teams are often defined by their leaders. Good teams have leaders that are not only vocal but who also lead by example. Good leaders are willing to do whatever the team needs to be successful. In turn, other team members will follow suit. Most teams look to veterans for leadership.
Hard Work
-
Hard work and dedication are musts for every successful team. Every team has talented athletes, but those teams that put in extra time preparing always have an edge. Time spent in the weight room, running or watching film is part of extra work that can be put in by team members.
Sportsmanship
-
Not every team can win a championship. But every team can win respect of their opponents. Playing to the best of a team's ability and playing the game within the rules can earn a team as much praise as a victory.
