How to Get an AMA Card for Motocross

A.M.A stands for American Motorcycle Racing Association. By joining the AMA you will receive many benefits, which include a long list of discounts such as roadside assistance, an Allstate insurance discount, navigation equipment by Garmin, as well as many other travel and rental discounts. The AMA is the governing body of motocross racing as well as the only organization that serves motorcyclists in America. It is an affiliation of the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), which is the world-wide motorcycle association. It monitors motorcycling legislation as well as enforces the rules of racing. Licensed AMA racers may also compete in international events held in the United States.

      Decide what kind of membership you want to apply for. It is recommended that those involved with motocross register for an AMA Competition Plus member for $39. If you are planning on racing for a period of three years or longer, there is also the option of the three year AMA Competition membership fir $117. These two memberships automatically renew. Other options for racers include the basic competition membership with out renewal as well as a lifetime membership for $750. All membership rates are as of December 2010.

      Fill out the basic registration form. Before submitting your information, be sure to read and agree to the terms and conditions of becoming an AMA member.

      Fill in payment information. If registering online, AMA will accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Provide your card information and submit.

      Apply for your Annual Release Card. This card meets any requirements for Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk for all AMA sanctioned events. Download it from the official AMA website or contact the AMA for instructions.
