How to Identify a TRX250R

The TRX250R is a race quad, developed by Honda as an entry level ATV. The TRX Series also includes the TRX90X, 300X, 400X, 450R and 700XX. The "R" in the name stands for "race," as both the 250R and 450R are specifically designed to meet race specs and class displacement at racing venues around the world. The 250R, like the ATVs produced by Honda in the late 1980's, is a single-piston, air-cooled, 2-stroke all-terrain vehicle.

  1. Identifying a TRX250R

      Look for the "TRX250R" logo on the left and right sides of the fuel tank panel where it intersects the front rock guard fender.

      Look at the side of the crankcase to identify the displacement in cubic centimeters. If it reads "229cc" then it's a TRX250R.

      Locate the VIN number printed on the steering pillar or interior front suspension cross member, and look for the model number "TRX250R" within the VIN number.
