Brands of Motocross Bikes

Motocross is a motorcycle sport that takes place on off-road courses. The sport originated in Great Britain and quickly gained widespread popularity across the globe. While several Motocross bike manufacturers have ceased production, a number of companies still manufacture off-road Motocross bikes from countries such as Japan, the United States, Austria, Great Britain and Italy.
  1. Honda

    • Honda is a Japanese company that manufactures a line of Motocross bikes. Honda's 2011 CRF 450R model Motocross bike features a four-stroke, 449cc engine and new fuel injector technology. This new fuel injector allows the rider to tune the fuel injection to specific track conditions. The manufacture recommends this bike for intermediate- to expert-level riders. The lower shock mount on this bike improves balance and suspension, according to the manufacturer. Honda's CRF 250R features a 249cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine. Both Honda Motocross bike models offer five-speed transmissions, 1.5-gallon fuel tanks and 240mm twin-piston disc brakes.

    KTM

    • KTM is an Austrian Motocross bike manufacturing company that offers several models of Motocross bikes. KTM's 450 SX-F features a four-stroke, 449.3cc engine capable of performing at around 59 horsepower, according to the manufacturer. This bike offers an electric starter and a four-gear transmission. KTM's 50 SX-F offers a 249.61cc, four-stroke engine with a 45 horsepower output. This bike features a six-gear transmission and hydraulic clutch.

    Yamaha

    • Yamaha is another Japanese Motocross bike manufacturer. Yamaha's YZ 450F bike features a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, 449cc engine. This bike is manufactured with a five-speed transmission. The manufacturer claims the light aluminum frame allows for better cornering and handling. The manufacturer's YZ 250F Motocross bike offers a four-stroke, liquid-cooled 250cc engine and a five-speed transmission. Both Yamaha Motocross bikes are constructed with titanium valves.

    Kawasaki

    • Kawasaki remains another popular Japanese company that manufactures Motocross bikes. They produce a line of Motocross bikes featuring different engine sizes. Kawasaki's KX 450F features a liquid-cooled, 449cc engine. The KX 250F Motocross bike is constructed with a 249cc, four-stroke engine. The KX 100 Motocross bike is one of their smaller models, which offers a two-stroke, 99cc engine with a six-speed transmission. The transmissions on both of these bikes are five-speed, manual clutch transmissions.
