How to Make a Long Board Skateboard

The longboard has a similar design to the modern skateboard. As skaters use the street skateboard to perform tricks and maneuvers, longboarders catch speed down steep hills and cruise down sidewalks. The longboard can reach lengths of 60 inches or more while the conventional skateboard has a standard length of approximately 30 inches. The wheels of the longboard have a large diameter to allow the board to grip around sharp turns. The metal trucks, which hold the wheels, also have a wider construction than skateboard trucks. Making a longboard requires a few simple tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the longboard components on a flat surface. The hardware should include eight bolts, eight small nuts and four large nuts.

    • 2

Hold the wooden longboard deck sideways. Insert one bolt through each of the eight holes through the top of the longboard deck. Flip the longboard deck upside down with the graphics or picture on the bottom facing up.

    • 3

Align one of the wide longboard trucks onto four of the bolts inserted through the deck. Place the other longboard truck onto the remaining four bolts. Tighten one small nut over each of the eight bolts with the skate tool while holding the bolts in place with the screwdriver.

    • 4

Fit two bearings into each of the large longboard wheels with the tip of the skate tool.

    • 5

Insert two of the large longboard wheels onto the opposing ends of one of the trucks. Repeat with the remaining two wheels and one truck. Tighten one large nut over each of the four longboard wheels.

    • 6

Flip the longboard over and take it to a paved area. Ride the longboard to ensure proper construction.
