How to Build a Cement Skate Ledge
Things You'll Need
- 4 cement cinder blocks
- Spatula
- Construction adhesive
- Circular saw
- Plywood
- Angle iron, 5 feet 5 inches long
Instructions
-
-
1
Lay all four cement blocks on their sides so that the holes through the blocks run vertically.
-
2
Line the cement blocks end to end but leave at least 1/2 foot between the ends.
-
3
Spread construction adhesive with a spatula onto the ends of each cement block where it will connect with the one next to it. Push the cement blocks together so that the glue can start to bond the blocks to each other.
-
4
Use a circular saw to cut a 3/4 inch thick plank of plywood into a 5 foot 5 inch-by 7 1/2-inch piece. At this size, the plank should exactly fit on top of four standard sized cinder blocks laying end to end.
-
5
Spread the construction adhesive onto the top of the cement block structure.
-
6
Place the plank of plywood on top of the cinder block structure and apply some pressure downward with your hands to press the plank into the glue.
-
7
Spread construction adhesive lengthwise along the top corners of the ledge. Fit the 5-foot 5-inch angle iron over the adhesive coated edges and apply pressure with your hands to the angle iron to help the metal bond to the ledge.
-
8
Leave the ledge alone overnight to allow all of the adhesive to dry. After about 12 hours, the ledge should be ready to skateboard on.
