How to Hit a Wakeboard Slide

As the sport of wakeboarding grows, so do the tricks the riders perform. Wakeboard sliders are rails that extend up and over the water to allow the rider to grind or slide on the slider similar to skateboarding. Tricks can be performed on and jumping off the slider.A 50/50 grind is when you turn and position your board to slide perpendicular to the rail and grinding the slider using the center of your board.

Instructions

    • 1

Approach the slider in the riding stance that is most comfortable for you. Riding with your left foot forward is referred to as "regular" footing. Riding with your right foot forward is known as "goofy" footing.

    • 2

Turn the heel side edge of your wakeboard toward the ramp to prepare to grind the slider. Gradually bring your back foot forward as you approach the ramp to position your board perpendicular to the slider. Begin this motion about 3 feet to 4 feet before the beginning of the slider.

    • 3

Remove your back hand from the tow rope handle and bend your knees. Ride up the incline of the slider and maintain balance as you follow the path of the slider.

    • 4

Draw your back foot back to its original position, parallel to the slider, once you are at the end of the rail. Return your backhand to the tow rope handle and slide off the end of the slider. Keep your knees bent and your board flat to smoothly land on the surface of the water.
