Aerobic Fitness in Children

Children need exercise that will help them with their sedentary lifestyle while improving their health. Aerobic activity is the easiest exercise for children.
  1. Benefits

    • By doing aerobic activity, children will burn many of their calories they consume from the various fast food restaurants and candy.

    Time Frame

    • Giving children short amounts of time in the beginning of any exercise routine is a smart start. Children of any age can do aerobic activities. Start with 15 minutes once a week then increase the time to 30 and then 60 minutes. After a 60-minute regimen is established without issues, then increase the frequency to two times a week then 3 times.

    Considerations

    • Always take in to account the time of year and the weather. This will allow the children to not get overheated and exhausted.

    Significance

    • According to an article appearing in "Edutopia" magazine, children who stay active and fit also perform better in school.

    Warning

    • Always consult with your physician before starting any type of exercise routine.
