      Take part in a moderate to strenuous level of physical activity for 30 minutes to an hour. Cardio activities like bike riding, running or swimming should be perfect.

      Stop working out and test your pulse once again. Use the same method prescribed above. Your pulse should stay at an increased rate anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes after you quit exercising -- based on your level of physical fitness.

      Record the findings after your workout. Compare them to your earlier findings, at rest.
