DIY Tornado Ball

The Tornado Ball was developed by Paul Chek, founder of the C.H.E.K. Institute, where holistic healers go to learn advanced practices. The Tornado Ball is a medicine ball attached to a rope, and it is meant to help build your core muscles -- your abdominals -- and strengthen your upper body. If you don't have access to a Tornado Ball, you can make your own at home with a few items.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the basketball net on a flat, open surface.

    • 2

Weave the shoelace through the short hoops that would have connected the net to a basketball rim. Pull the two ends together tight to close off that end of the net. Double-knot the ends of the shoelace and clip off the excess lace.

    • 3

Turn the net around so the open end is toward you. Gather the open loops in two bunches, one on each side of the net. Duct tape the loops of each bunch together about 1 1/2 inches from the top, leaving the loops open for rope.

    • 4

      Insert the medicine ball.

    • 5

Thread your rope through one loop bunch then through the second bunch of loops. Pull the ends of the rope toward you and create a horseshoe shape. Gather the rope's ends together and wrap them with duct tape multiple times to create a grip for your homemade Tornado Ball.
