Instructions

  1. Build the Base

First, stabilize the board. Cut the two 6-by-2-inch boards to the correct size. To get the correct length, measure the distance between the bottom of your buttocks and the top of your head, then add 3 inches. Line them up perfectly adjacent. Take one of the leg boards and use it as a crossbeam to stabilize the two long boards. Place the flat side of the smaller across the center of the two beams, and use four screws to stabilize the wood to the board.

Add the legs to the bench. Take four additional legs and drill from the top down into the leg on each corner of the board. Make sure the long side of the leg is running perpendicular to the bench. Once all four legs have been drilled into the longer board, you should see your workout bench beginning to take shape. Take the two remaining beams and place the flat side along the interior of the legs. Drill into place on both sides for additional support.

Glue your foam pad to the bench. Measure the length of your bench (the width will be 12 inches) and then cut out the same size for your foam pad. Take a glue gun and place glue on the top of your bench. When enough glue is applied, take your pad and stick it to your bench. Allow 24 hours to dry. If you're going to use your dumbbell bench on carpet, consider gluing foam pads under the legs to protect the floor.
