Around the World Medicine Ball Exercises

Medicine balls are a fun, easy-to-use addition to your exercise regimen, whether you're at home or the gym. People of all ages use these versatile balls for strengthening muscles and preventing injuries. You can do lifts, throws, squats, curls, pushups, twists, extensions and many other organized exercises to work the core muscles, while utilizing balance and control. Around the World is a well-known two-person exercise that employs the medicine ball.
  1. Medicine Balls

    • Medicine balls are the size of a basketball and vary in weight between 2 and 30 lbs. Select a weight that works best for you. The weight of the ball shouldn't slow you down too much or have you proceeding through exercises too quickly, which could lead to injury.

    Warm Up

    • Warm up before exercising so you don't injure your muscles. Make sure you have plenty of space to work while doing these exercises. Perform medicine ball exercises before doing other heavy weight training or aerobic exercises.

    Around the World

    • With this exercise, you will need a partner to throw the ball to you. You and your partner both start in a kneeling position, throwing the ball to each other from different positions around the body. This exercise is beneficial because you are using muscles to throw the medicine ball as well as incorporating muscles when you are catching the ball and slowing it down.
