Sharing Music Over Zoom

Many of you have written asking how to share audio in your classes. We’re here to help! Before starting, I recommend two things:

Using Spotify

• You can also use iTunes or YouTube, but Spotify is easiest.
• They have free accounts that have commercials or paid accounts without commercials.

Turning down the audio volume to half directly through Spotify

• It will always sound louder to you than it will for the audience.
• If you have someone else on the call, have them help you test the audio’s volume.

Sharing music is simple to do, just follow these steps!

For Screen Sharing and Audio Sharing

• Click “Share screen”

• Select what you would like to screenshare. Then, in the bottom left, you’ll click the box next to “Share computer sound”. Then click “Share”

• Open spotify (or another music source). Select the track or playlist you want to share.

• Move the audio volume to be halfway to start. This is normally about the level you’ll want it. You will want to adjust depending on the level you’d like to have. Having someone else be on the call to listen helps a great deal here.
• That’s it! Now everyone on the call hears your music. If you would like to end the music before the call ends, simply stop your music and then end your screenshare.

For Audio Sharing Only

• Click “Share screen”

• Click the “Advanced” tab on the top menu

• Click “Music or Computer Sound Only” then click “Share”

• Open spotify (or another music source). Select the track or playlist you want to share.

• Move the audio volume to be halfway to start. This is normally about the level you’ll want it. You will want to adjust depending on the level you’d like to have. Having someone else be on the call to listen helps a great deal here.
• That's it! Now everyone on the call hears your music. If you would like to end the music before the call ends, simply stop your music and then end your screen share.
