Running can help to build heart muscle and can decrease fatigue by triggering your metabolism. Running can also reduce stress by releasing endorphines that can elevate your mood. Tell your boyfriend how good running makes you feel.

Make running fun. Go shopping together for new running shoes and clothing. Show your boyfriend routes that you enjoy running or introduce him to your favorite gym. Also teach him about an ideal runner's diet, and start by cooking him meals from the diet. Generally runners need more carbohydrates, calories and lean protein than less active people.

Offer to run with your boyfriend so that you can motivate him and help distract him from the initial difficulty. Everyone who is starting a workout regimin needs a cheerleader, so be a cheerleader for your significant other. Allow him time to rest if he needs to during the workout and remind him of how proud of him you are. Running together can also make the activity more fun as sometimes it's nice to have someone to talk to, especially on longer runs.

Endorse an overall healthy lifestyle. Encourage your boyfriend to get adequate rest and to refrain from smoking. Also encourage him to partake in other healthy or productive activities and to cut back or stray from partying and drinking alcohol. Too much alcohol can decrease your stamina as it directly affects the quality of sleep. Offer to do other physical activities with him, such as bike riding, to help increase both of your energy levels and stamina.
