How to Adjust the Belts on a Bowflex TC1000

The Bowflex TC1000 comes equipped with a low-maintenance belt system. A belt that gravitates toward the left or right side of a treadle needs adjusting. The term "tracks left" or "tracks right" describes a belt that strays left or right during normal operation. Belts also might need a little tightening to maintain proper tension on the treadle rollers. An overly tightened belt puts unnecessary stress on the treadle rollers, and a belt with too little tension slips and loses contact with them.

Instructions

  1. Walking Belt Adjustment

    • 1

Conduct a test for proper alignment. Set the machine's speed indicator to 1.5 mph and start the machine.

    • 2

Stand in front of the machine and observe the position of the belts with the machine in operation. Notice the adjustment bolts positioned on each end of the front roller. Watch for belt movement to the left or right.

    • 3

Tighten the right adjustment bolt on the roller of a belt that tracks to the right. Insert the hex key that came with the machine into the adjustment bolt and turn it to the right, one full turn.

    • 4

Tighten the left adjustment bolt on the roller of a belt that tracks to the left. Insert the hex key and turn it to the right, one full turn.

    Walking Belt Tension

    • 5

Acquire optimum belt tension. You will have optimal tension when your fingers lie flat under the midpoint of the belt.

    • 6

Turn both adjusting bolts clockwise, one full turn, to increase the tension on the belt.

    • 7

Turn both adjusting bolts to the left, one full turn, to loosen tension on the belt.
