Building a Camera Mount with a Stick
-
1
Choose from a wooden or adjustable metal hiking stick with a solid top that will allow you to drill into it. Drill a 1/2-inch hole into the top of the stick. Drill as straight as possible into the stick so your camera does not sit at an undesirable angle.
-
2
Screw two hex nuts onto the hanger bolt that you are using. These small nuts will prevent the camera from moving on the pole by tightening to the camera bottom.
-
3
Carefully screw the hanger bolt with attached nuts into the hole that you drilled into the top of your stick. Do not over tighten the bolt. This could strip the hole and render it useless.
-
4
Attach the camera's tripod mount to the hanger bolt as far down as you can.
-
5
Screw the nuts onto the bottom of the camera to secure the camera to the stick.
-
6
Hold the stick up to take a shot with your camera. Use the timer on the camera to give you enough time to hold the set-up steady and get it to the desired angle.
