Gifts for the Outdoor Man

When purchasing a gift for a man who loves the outdoors, you will want to make sure your present is something he will truly want and need. Purchasing reflectors for a bike might be a nice thought, but he probably won't use them. Luckily, there are several different presents the outdoors man will love, and if your lucky, not have either.
  1. Portable GPS Unit

    • When you're hiking in the woods, it can be easy to loose your sense of direction, especially when you ditch a trail. To help prevent your guy from getting lost, buy him a portable GPS unit. The GPS, or global positioning system, will pinpoint his location, then point him to safety. With technology rapidly coming down in price, you can find these handheld devices in stores such as Target and Walmart---not to mention the outdoors sportsman's shops---for about one hundred dollars.

    All-Weather Tent

    • If your man enjoys camping but has an old-fashioned bedraggled tent, you may want to look for something a bit more snazzy and updated, like an all-weather tent. Made to repel moisture and condensation, this tent will keep him insulated from the wind. All-weather tents can be found at most large outdoors-recreation stores in the camping section. The extra waterproofing and thicker material may cost more than a standard tent, but it's worth it---especially for those times when the temperature drops.

    Gift Certificate

    • Sometimes you just don't know exactly what your outdoors enthusiast wants, let alone what he already has. In such cases, buying him a gift certificate from the local sports store may just be the perfect gift. Yes, it may not scream of romance, but it will allow him to pick out exactly what he needs---which actually will make him very happy.
