Flat Belly Diet & Coffee

The Lowdown of a Flat Belly Diet
-
The Flat Belly Diet relies on a traditional Mediterranean diet of loading up on monounsaturated fatty acids, without doing much else except watching your calories and maybe adding in a few minutes of exercise a few times a week.
The Do's of a Flat Belly Diet
-
Add monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) to your meals. These heart-healthy, good-for-you fats include almonds, olive oil and peanut butter. A few simple suggestions are to add a few almonds with your morning snack, to have a salad drizzled with olive oil for lunch, and to spread some peanut butter on celery sticks to beat the afternoon munchies.
The Don'ts of a Flat Belly Diet
-
Don't drink beverages with high acid content, like alcohol, tea and coffee, because they can irritate your GI tract and cause swelling in the stomach region. Mixing the flat belly diet and coffee or tea will result in bloating, which will definitely not help you get a flat belly.
You don't have to swear off that morning cup of joe forever, though; according to Prevention magazine, a four-day fast banning coffee and other acidic beverages from your diet should do the trick. While you're fasting, substitute coffee, alcohol and tea with plain old water, or you can try the Flat Belly Diet's signature Sassy Water, which includes such ingredients as GI-calming ginger and cucumber. See the References below for a link to the recipe.
