Instructions

    • 1

Lay flat on your back with your legs open. Have your partner lay on top of you and in between your legs, in what is called the guard position. The guard position is a basic defensive posture in ground fighting.

    • 2

Wrap your legs around your opponent's back and place your arms around the back of his neck. Pull him into you, into the closed guard position.

    • 3

Grab your partner's left wrist with your right hand, with your thumb pointing toward him.

    • 4

Place your right foot into your opponent's left hip, and bring your right knee into the pit of his elbow. Hold his arm securely in this position.

    • 5

Plant your right foot into the ground. Spin 90 degrees to your right, so that you are now perpendicular to your partner's body. As you do this, slide your right leg over his back and press it securely into him to prevent your partner from escaping the move.

    • 6

Bring your left hand over your opponent's left arm. Slide your left hand between his arm and body, grabbing your right wrist. Lever your arms toward his head, tightening the pressure on his shoulder no more than you need to.
