How to Make an Upper Case L in Cursive

Writing in cursive is a quicker and more attractive alternative to writing in print or typing. Knowing how to write in cursive is not difficult once you learn how to write the cursive alphabet, which differs slightly from the print alphabet. For instance, making a cursive, upper-case "L" requires a little wrist dexterity and practice. The cursive "L" differs from a print "L" because it contains loops at both the top and the bottom.

Instructions

    • 1

Aim the tip of the pen at the top, left-hand side of the topmost line of a lined sheet of paper. Press down.

    • 2

Sweep the pen outward to the right and create a loop by continuing to sweep in a curve toward the left. Bring the curve down in a straight line, overlapping the initial line you first made. Make this line reach down to the bottom of the top line on the lined sheet of paper. This forms the top and side of your "L."

    • 3

Sweep outward to the left without stopping, creating a loop as you did in Step 2. Make this loop move in the opposite direction as the top-right loop. Sweep the tail of the left-facing loop to the right, creating a delicate tail. This forms the bottom of your "L."
