How to Prevent Common Krav Maga Injuries
Instructions

1
Make sure you spend a good 15 to 30 minutes warming up before you actually start doing Krav Maga to prevent strains and injuries.
-
2
Check in with your doctor if you're worried about injuring yourself, have a physical limitation or if you're especially out of shape. In general, you'll still be able to do Krav Maga since most average people with training can do Krav Maga. If you have a physical limitation and your doctor approves you doing Krav Maga, make sure you let the instructor know about it.
-
3
Use the recommended protective equipment. Different instructors have different equipment they want you to use. Common equipment includes helmets, mouth guards and groin protectors for men.
-
4
Find out if your instructor has certification from the Krav Maga Association of America or by the government of Israel to prevent injuries. If your instructor has certification, they know how to teach Krav Maga, which decreases your chance of injury.
-
5
Look at the facility. Make sure they don't have you fighting against walls (unless you are in a specific class on learning how to fight against walls) and that any mats won't slip out from underneath you.
