Begin at the practitioner level one. If the academy you are taking classes with uses belts, practitioner levels one and two are yellow belts. These levels are for beginners just picking up the techniques and principles.

    • 2

Move up to practitioner level three and four as your instructor feels you are ready to advance in training. These levels are the orange belts, and they are filled with those who have been through the basic training and are learning new techniques and movements.

    • 3

Earn a green belt in Krav Maga by advancing to practitioner five and graduate one levels. You must continue moving up through the belts from green to blue to brown. Each belt in Krav Maga shows the level of study you are on, and who you should be sparring and combating in class.

    • 4

Advance in your studies to the expert one level. This is not the highest level, but it is the first level of a black belt in Krav Maga. It involves having spent between one to two years in training and advancing at a steady pace.

    • 5

Continue with your studies after you have reached the first black belt level in Krav Maga. The techniques and principles taught are wonderful for securing yourself against attack and for personal accomplishment. There are five expert levels and then you could move on to a master level, but that is for only the truly advanced and knowledgeable.
