How to Use Close Quarters Combat Techniques in Krav Maga

The developers of the Krav Maga fighting system had close quarter hand-to-hand fighting situations in mind when they innovated moves and attacks for the super effective defense system. Elbow and knees, which keep the limb shortened by powerful for an attack close quarters, deliver devastating attacks to opponents with Krav Maga techniques.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your hands up with your palms out to send a signal of non-danger and capitulation to your opponent.

    • 2

Raise your elbow up and turn your shoulders and hips into the attack as you strike a surface on your opponent's upper body, neck or face with the outer part of the blade of your elbow.

    • 3

Shoot the elbow behind you if your attacker comes from behind. If the attacker is too close to get the point of your elbow to his face then elbow downward past your ribcage to strike your opponent in the sternum or stomach.

    • 4

Grab your opponent's shirt at her trapezius muscle and place your other arm on her arm. Base down so you're lower than your opponent. Push away from your opponent as a feint so she pushes herself downward and towards you. Transition from a push to pulling your opponent into your knee which you should bring up to her stomach, chest or face.

    • 5

Use a knee to your opponent's groin in cases where your opponent is bigger than you or when he is too close to get enough of a clinch to pull his upper body and head down into a high knee.
