How to Wear a Tae Kwon Do Outfit

If you plan on learning Tae Kwon Do, you must learn how to properly wear the uniform. The top is often referred to as a dobok and can either be black or white in color. You will also need to wear a pair of trousers with the uniform that match the color of the top. A belt, or dee, completes the uniform. The color of the belt symbolizes your level of expertise.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on the uniform trousers. The label inside should be worn against your stomach, not your back.

    • 2

Pull the string cord to tighten the waistband until the trousers fit comfortably.

    • 3

Pull the dobok top over your head like a T-shirt. The "V" should be visible and lay against your breast and collar bones.

    • 4

Pull the elastic in the back of the dobok around your waist and secure it in place by attaching the elastic loops to the buttons on the front of dobok.

    • 5

Locate the center of the belt and position it so it's in the middle of your stomach.

    • 6

Wrap the belt around your waist until both end pieces are in the front of the dobok. Make sure there is the same amount of material on both end pieces.

    • 7

Place the right end of the belt over the left end, making an "X."

    • 8

Tuck the right end underneath the center of the "X" and pull the right end over the left end of the belt. The right end should lay down flat over the knot, with the end piece facing the ground.

    • 9

Grab the left end, loop it around the right end and pull the right end through the loop to create a loose knot. Pull both ends of the belt in a horizontal direction to secure the knot.
