How to Do Wing Chun Round Kicks
Instructions

-
1
Begin facing your partner approximately 4 or 5 feet apart, legs shoulder-width apart, knees bent and arms raised in front of the chest in a defensive position. The hands can be closed or open depending on what hand combination you to choose to execute with the round kick, if any.
-
2
Move in toward you partner until you are approximately two feet away. This is to tighten the moves and intimidate the attacker. Wing Chun is about focus and proximity so be sure to move in fast and perform the kick almost instantaneously. Step forward first with the foot you will be kicking with; you should have at least 2 steps before kicking.
-
3
Bring the kicking leg around from the side of your body, rotating your hip as you do so. Rest your weight on your back leg with your knee still bent.
-
4
Raise the leg up and across the center of your partner's torso. At the same time, partners will bring their own leg out to defensively block the kick.
-
5
Connect with your partner's leg at the knee, hooking your kicking foot at a horizontal angle to their knee. Of course, there should be no attempt to actually harm or injure your partner as this is only a practice.
-
6
Prevent your partner from blocking the Wing Chun round kick by adding more speed and power to the move. Of course, you should execute the kick just in front of your partner's torso to prevent injury.
-
7
Practice the round house kick focusing on centering the kick, keeping the leg tight to the body throughout execution and performing at top speed to intimate any potential attacker.
