How to Top Roll in Arm Wrestling

Arm Wrestling is no longer just some back room bar, throw your money on the table, grit your teeth, chew tobacco and snarl at your opponent kind of event. It's also a recognized sport with I.A.F. (International Arm Wrestling Federation) holding tournaments across the world. Here's how to perform a "Top Roll," a popular arm wrestling move made famous by Sly Stallone in the movie "Over the Top."

Instructions

    • 1

Pull yourself back slightly. After grasping hands with your opponent, once the match has started, ever so slightly pull yourself back. This will give you more leverage and extend his length, making his leverage weaker.

    • 2

Focus on pulling the bottom knuckle of your index finger toward your nose.

    • 3

Bend your wrist forward as you are pulling toward your nose. This will begin to break your opponent's grip.

    • 4

Break your opponent's grip one finger at a time. This will take an immense amount of concentration (and strength) on your part. Start with the pinky, and work your way toward your opponent's thumb. As each of his fingers begins to break or slip from the grip, his position becomes weaker and essentially unrecoverable.

    • 5

Pin your opponent. By the time you reach the middle finger your opponent should be done. Pin his arm and claim victory.
