How to Use a Cuetec Bowtie Scuffer

A good pool cue is a necessity to play a great game of pool, and the tip of the cue is the most important part of the stick. A properly shaped tip can help a pool player instantly improve from a good player to a great one. One way to improve your tip is to scuff it. Scuffing the cue tip allows it to hold chalk better to help reduce miscues. The Cuetec Bowtie is a tool that includes a shaper, aerator and scuffer to help you get the best cue tip possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the scuffing tip that reads “Scuff” over the aerating tool on the Bowtie base. The aerating tool is opposite the end reading “Shape.” Slide the scuffing tip on so the arrow on the tip is pointing to the outside of the Bowtie tool identical to the arrow on the other end.

    • 2

Screw the tip onto the Bowtie tool. Make sure the tip is secure before using the tool.

    • 3

Hold the “Scuff” end of the Bowtie tool up to the tip of your pool cue. Apply light pressure and create scuffs on the tip using only downward strokes.

    • 4

Apply chalk to your cue tip to test that it will hold the chalk. Scuff the tip some more if it does not hold the chalk well.
