How to Remove Dents From a Pool Cue Shaft With an Iron
Having a dent in your pool cue can put a dent in your confidence. If you feel that inconsistency in the surface of the cue every time you line up a shot, your concentration is not on the balls where it should be. Small dents can however be removed with little effort simply by applying heat and moisture. This will get you playing on form again in no time.
Things You'll Need
- Iron
- Fine sandpaper 200 grit or higher
Instructions

1
Gently rub over the scratch with the sandpaper. Just a few strokes is enough; you don't want to wear off the actual wood, just remove the wax or coating.
-
2
Heat the iron up to its highest setting.
-
3
Place the cue on the table with dent pointed upward. Spit on to your finger tip and wipe the blob of spit over the dent. Spit is key; water runs off too quickly.
-
4
Pass the tip of the iron's hot plate over the dent. Do not leave the the tip in one place but make small circles until the water has all disappeared.
-
5
Repeat this procedure if the dent has not completely gone. Add more spit each time but be careful not to burn your finger on the iron or hot wood.
