The Best Pool Cues

Defining a "best" pool cue can be a daunting task. After all, a player's feel, technique and expertise are all factors that come in to play. Ultimately, it's the relationship between the player and the cue that determines the best cue for a player. That said, however, some cues have been the top choice for professionals for decades.
  1. Meucci

    • Meucci cues are factory-made in Byhalia, Mississippi. Pool cues manufactured by Meucci are among the most well-known cues for players who move beyond casual play. Meucci mills the wood for their pool sticks themselves, taking the time to line up the grains on both sides of the joints.

    Lucasi

    • All pool cues made by Lucasi carry a lifetime warranty. Their two-year-aged wood sticks are coated with a patented stabilizer to prevent warping. Lucasi pool cues are marketed for the more experienced or advanced pool player and are the cue of choice for many professional players.

    McDermott

    • McDermott handcrafted cues started in 1975 and are manufactured in Menominee Falls, Wisconsin. McDermott cites its key differentiators as their wood aging, superior balance and durability. In addition to the wood aging, McDermott cues are machined at least three times during the manufacturing process.

    Viper

    • Viper goes a step further than McDermott and Lucasi with its aging and machining. Viper cues are kiln-dried for six months. The cues then receive seven layers of protective sealant to ensure there less warping.
