How to Hang a Billiard Light

Before chalking your cue and racking those balls for the first time, there may be one final detail you are overlooking to enhance play on your new billiard table: you need a billiard light. A proper billiard light is key to playing the game of billiards, as it eliminates shadows on the table surface and minimizes tricks that other light could play on your eyes. Here's how to hang up a billiard light safely.

Instructions

Measure to determine exactly where the billiard light needs to be installed. If the pool table is already in place, the light should be centered relative to the table, and the bottom of the light should be 38 to 42 inches above the table. If you do not have a table yet, measure so that the light will be positioned 66 to 72 inches from the floor.

Install the braces. Although this step is optional, it gives the light more stability, lessening the danger of it dropping. If you wish, you can simply use some heavy-duty hooks in the ceiling, although they do not provide as much safety as braces.

Hook up the chain to the light, and then hang the light from the ceiling. The chain should fit into each end of the top of the pool table light easily.
