How to Arrange Balls in a Nine-Ball Rack

Nine ball is one of several games played on a billiards table. Unlike eight ball, any player can win nine ball at any time. One of the most important aspects of the game is the rack. It must be tight and the balls must be arranged correctly. The failure to do so can result in an unfair match due to a less-than-ideal break.

Instructions

Place the nine-ball rack lengthwise on the pool table behind the foot spot.

    • 2

Retrieve the balls numbered one through nine. Store the remaining balls in the table pockets.

    • 3

Place the one ball at the top of the diamond and slide the rack so that the one ball is directly above the foot spot.
