How to Convert a Propane Engine to Dual Fuel
For many outdoor and camping stoves, the power source comes from bottled propane. Converting the stoves over to dual-fuel use requires the installation of a generator into the stove engine. Most stove makers design the unit with conversion in mind, making it easy to convert the stove for use in areas where one particular fuel type is available. The conversion takes a few minutes and typically doesn't require any tools.

1
Turn the stove off, and turn the propane fuel source off at the nozzle. Unscrew the propane can off the stove and remove it.
-
2
Twist the propane generator -- a long, tubed rod coming from the stove's intake nozzle -- counterclockwise until it comes off and out of the fuel conversion section of the engine.
-
3
Insert the dual fuel generator -- a long, slender tube designed to carry the white gas or other liquid fuel into the engine. Turn clockwise until firmly in place in the engine of the stove.
-
4
Attach a fuel bottle to the intake end of the generator, and open the fuel valve. Hold a lighter flame to the stove burners to ignite the fuel.
