1
Install a bed platform in the truck bed. Lay five 2-inch by 6-inch boards across the lip of the camper top. Cut a piece of 3/8-inch plywood to place on top. Put an air or foam mattress along with comfortable bedding on top of the plywood.
-
2
Turn a piece of plywood on its side to create a wall underneath the bed platform to make separate storage areas for wet or muddy gear. Wedge the plywood piece into place.
-
3
Store all of your camping gear, food and clothing beneath the bed platform in rubber storage bins to keep them organized and clean. Place the bins in the same location each time you camp so you can quickly find what you need.
-
4
Set up a tarp or tent canopy at the opening of your tailgate to prevent rain from entering the camper while keeping the camper shell lid open for ventilation. Attach a piece of mesh fabric over the lid opening with Velcro tape to keep the bugs out. Cook and hang out under the extra outdoor living space the canopy provides.

Access your truck’s 12-volt power supply to power a DVD player, laptop, MP3 player or any other electric device that you want to use in the bed of the truck.
