How to Install an ARB Roof Tent

When camping in places with dangerous or pesky animals, ground-dwelling insects, or soggy ground, a rooftop tent can provide a luxurious and safe advantage over a standard ground tent. Most any vehicle that can be equipped with a roof rack is capable of holding a rooftop tent. Several manufacturers, such as ARB, make tents that can be mounted on standard roof racks, or adapted to a variety of custom racks.

Instructions

      Remove the tent and mounting hardware from the package.

      Mount the cross members to the roof rack using the bolts provided. Center the cross members on the rack prior to fully tightening the bolts. This step can be omitted if the roof rack already has compatible cross bars.

      With help from another person, lift the tent onto the rack and secure using the included rail mounts.

      Mount the ladder to the tent frame using the hardware provided.

      Open the tent and unfold the ladder. Mark where the additional holes for the ladder adjustment stop need to be drilled.

      Drill holes at the marked locations.

      Open the tent and finish tightening all mounting bolts.

      Mount the tent cover on the platform by sliding it into the groove on the hinge side of the tent platform.

      Fold up the tent and stow inside the cover for travel.
