How to Polish a Coleman Canoe
Coleman has a long-time association with camping and back-country products. Among Coleman's offerings is a line of canoes, which are made from impact-resistant plastics and rubber. To keep the hull intact and in good condition, it is necessary to clean and polish it at least once a season or after every hard use. Polishing is done using common plastic and vinyl cleaning products.
Things You'll Need
- Two saw horses
- Bucket with soapy water and a large sponge
- Garden hose
- Chamois clothes
- Roto-mold cleanser (available at marine stores)

1
Place the canoe upside-down onto the two saw horses and hose it down. Wash it off completely using warm soapy water and a sponge. Let the canoe dry.
-
2
Apply a generous amount of the vinyl-plastic polishing cleaner to the center of a chamois cloth. Begin at the bow of the canoe, making circular motions to polish the boat.
-
3
Work your way across the entire length of the canoe on both sides, polishing with the chamois cloth and cleanser in a circular motion.
-
4
Let the polish dry, and then inspect for any missed areas or smudges. Polish the details on these areas with the chamois and a little extra cleaner.
