Instructions

Assembling the Canoe Shelf
-
1
Pick a wall with solid studs or posts about two-thirds the length of your canoe. If you have a 12-footer, for instance, then the shelf brackets should be around eight feet apart.
-
2
Screw the brackets into the wall so the top of the bracket is about two foot above the ground. Back the screws with washers.
-
3
Measure the width of the canoe at the center. Add two inches and cut two two-by-fours that width.
-
4
Screw the two-by-fours on top of the shelf brackets. Wrap carpet strips or foam padding over the top of the two-by-fours and either zip-tie or staple them in place.
-
5
Screw eye bolts into the ends of the two-by-fours and in the sides about an inch from the wall. Predrill the holes for the bolts to prevent the boards from splitting.
-
6
Load the canoe upside-down onto the shelf. Wrap bungee cords over the top of the hull.
