How to Hang a Climbing Rope From a Garage Ceiling

- Step stool ladder
- Foam pieces
- Cutting tool

Climb up the step ladder and feed the climbing rope over a rafter. Feed enough rope over so there is approximately three feet of slack on the ground.

Position foam chunks under the rope on the top of the rafter to prevent the rope from getting friction damage at the sharp corners of the rafter timber.

Cut the rope so you have at least three feet to work with at the rafter, after the rope wraps around the rafter and foam.

Tie a bowline knot (see Resources) around the rafter and pull the main body of the knot underneath the rafter, making sure the rope remains on the foam pieces.

Move the ladder and climb up one to two knots to ensure the rope is secure, the knot holds and the foam stays in position.
