How to Mod a Ninja Claw

A ninja claw is a climbing tool that slides over the hand much like a glove. The claw has several short spikes sticking out of it that are designed to assist the user in climbing trees and other wooden objects. While they can give you more traction than climbing with your bare hands, you should not rely on them to prevent you from falling. Ninja claws can be modified for aesthetic purposes if you are using them for a costume or a visual effect.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the claws if you wish to modify their color. The claws themselves are usually made of steel or a heavy plastic and therefore can be painted any color you want. They usually come in black so it may take a few coats to prevent the black from showing through.

    • 2

Attach a patch onto the back of the claw to represent a particular martial arts school, style or group. The patch can either be attached via an adhesive like a decal or it can be sewn into the nylon that slides over the back of the wrist to make it more permanent.

Wrap duct tape around the wrist of the claw to tighten it to your hand. The claw is designed to be adjustable but if you have a thin wrist or a small hand, it may still wobble a bit or be too loose. The tape will help hold the claw in proper position.
