Testing a Dart Board Wall Protector

Darts is a great pastime that can be fun either at home or at the bar, but those darts are sharp, and can easily poke holes in drywall, which is why a wall protector is such a good idea. The wall protector will absorb any wayward darts and protect the walls beneath, preventing any damage. It will help to know though, before you hang the wall protector, if it will actually work to prevent darts from poking through into your wall.

Instructions

    • 1

Mount the wall protector on a wall you do not mind damaging, such as the wall in a garage, or an exterior wall. Another option is to place the wall protector on level ground.

    • 2

Throw several darts at the wall protector with the same amount of force that you would use if you were playing darts. Examine the rear of the wall protector to see if any of the darts have come through to the back side.

    • 3

Replace the wall protector and throw the darts with more force than you normally would when playing darts. Examine the rear of the wall protector to see if any darts have come through.

    • 4

Repeat the test several times, to ensure that the results are accurate. If, after several rounds of throwing darts at the wall protector, no darts have penetrated through the wall protector, then it is safe to assume the wall protector will function as its name implies.

    • 5

Periodically check the rear of the wall protector once you have mounted it on your wall, looking for any holes in the wall. Damage to the wall protector might slowly accrue and create weak spots where darts may poke through. If your dartboard sees heavy use, you may eventually have to replace the wall protector to avoid this scenario.
