How to Run a Dart League
Instructions

-
1
Promote your league in local bars, pubs and clubs, including other sports clubs. Print a basic flyer that promotes your league, including the dates of the season, entry fee per team, contact information and information about prizes.
-
2
Collect the names of all teams entering your league and where they will play their home matches, such as in a particular sports bar. Set up a spreadsheet with all of the teams' details, including whether or not fees have been paid, team name and home venue. Have each team also indicate if there are any days of the week they are incapable of playing their matches.
-
3
Set up a website, social networking page, blog or email mailing list to communicate with team captains. Send out the match schedule to all of the captains and ask if any team cannot attend any of their matches. Devise a deadline by which teams must notify you that they cannot play a match, such as 48 hours in advance of the start time --- if teams fail to turn up for a match or notify you less than 48 hours in advance, award the opposing team a walkover 8-0 victory.
-
4
Inform team captains of the league format, such as teams of eight playing each other in the best of three 501 legs. Inform captains that each set in a match must be played, even if one team takes an insurmountable lead, such as 5-0. Notify captains about the points for a win, draw and a loss, which could be three, one and none respectively.
-
5
Commence your darts season and make sure that both captains contact you with the match score. Record the match result in a spreadsheet and, after each round of matches, email the results and league standings to your mailing list of captains. Email the final league standings to all of your team captains once the season is finished.
-
6
Contact all of the captains to arrange an end of season party, which could be hosted at a neutral venue or at the home venue of the league winners. Present the first, second and third place teams with trophies recognizing their achievements and hand out any monetary prizes as arranged at the start of the season.
