Rules of Golf Darts

The game of golf darts combines the skilled precision and finesse of darts with the low-scoring goal of golf. Add a dash of risk and you have a recipe for good times around the dartboard. Playable on any fully-featured board, a game of golf darts can be enjoyed by any number of players.
  1. Setting Up the Game

    • The game of golf darts is played on a regulation board, with the players standing a standard distance away. Each player will use up to three darts during each turn, but if you are low on darts, all players can share three darts. The score is kept on a score pad. The game is started by flipping a coin to determine which player goes first, of by each player throwing a dart to see who gets closest to the bulls-eye.

    Playing the Game

    • The goal of each player is to play 18 "holes" of golf on the dart board. Each hole is represented by 18 of the wedges going around the board. Players will play one of these holes (wedges) per turn and can throw up to three darts at each hole. The score of the final dart stands, so players must decide if they will let the score of their most recently thrown dart stand or if they wish to throw another for a potentially lower score.

    Scoring

    • Landing a dart in the triple-score zone of the appropriate wedge counts as a hole-in-one. A dart landing in the double-score zone is a birdie (two strokes). Par 3 is awarded for darts landing between the bulls-eye and triple-score zone. A bogey (four strokes) is recorded for a dart landing in the area between the triple-score zone and double-score zone. Missing the wedge entirely results in a double bogey (five strokes).

    Winning the Game

    • After playing all 18 holes, the score of each hole is added up for each player. The player with the least number of strokes overall wins the game. Some players use handicaps in the game, just like those used in golf scoring.
