Soft Tip Darts Rules

Soft-tip dart boards have long been a stable in pool halls, bars and game rooms throughout the world. The games can be short or long, and the rules are easy to understand.

  1. Teams

    • Soft-tip darts can be played between two people or two teams. The teams have to be even.

    Warm-up

    • Each player is given five "free" throws to practice before the game starts. When the game starts, there are no free throws.

    First Throw

    • The first throw is determined by a throw-off. In a throw off, a player from each team throws the dart at the target. The player that hits the target closest to the bull's eye is the winner, and her team goes first.

    Turns

    • Each player has three throws in each round. Every throw counts.

    Scoring

    • The outer ring of a dart board is numbered. Darts that hit the wedge get the number of points in the outer ring.

    Rounds

    • Soft-tip dart games are usually three or four rounds.
