1
Look for a flat, round body shape and fins that resemble wild hair. Gulf Flounder are not an attractive fish by any means, but that does make them easier to spot.
-
2
Notice the three eye-like spots on the body of the fish over a brown background. The body appears almost mosaic with the meshed together spots of brown and white.
-
3
Weigh the fish. You are looking for an average of 1 to 3 pounds with a possible heaviest of around 6 pounds.
-
4
Know where to fish for Gulf Flounder. They are found pretty much anywhere in the Atlantic from North Carolina all the way down to the Caribbean.
