How to Attach Hooks to Homemade Lures

Making your own fishing lures can be an entertaining and rewarding activity on a rainy day at home. You can make a variety of models, including top-water, spinner and spoon lures. You can attach different hook combinations to your homemade lure, including one or more single, double or treble hooks. Most fishing lures use double or treble hooks.

Things You'll Need

  • Permanent marker
  • Drill
  • 1-inch closed-eye screw
  • Split ring
  • Double or treble fishing hook

Instructions

      Mark the spot on the fishing lure where you want to attach a hook, using the permanent marker.

      Drill a small pilot hole through the place you marked on the lure.

      Insert the 1-inch closed-eye screw into the hole.

      Attach a split ring to the eye screw, then attach the looped end of the fishing hook to the split ring.
