1
Construct the shrimp box's frame out of 12 1-inch-wide timber planks. Shrimp boxes can be any size, but be sure to check your state's laws, as some states have regulations dictating the maximum size they can be. A typical shrimp box measures about 2 by 2 feet by 9 inches.

2
Nail additional planks across the frame's body to create a crate-like structure. Place them very close to one another, with no more than 1/2 an inch of space between each one. This ensures that the shrimp do not escape the trap.

3
Cut a small door in the shrimp box using the handsaw. Typically, these doors are 6 by 8 inches. Line the box with nylon mesh, and align its opening with the door you just created.
-
4
Connect the wire funnel around the edges of the crate door and nylon mesh lining. This funnel will allow shrimp to enter but will prohibit them from exiting. It can be connected using rope, wire or plastic twist-ties

5
Tie a rope securely to the shrimp box. This will be used to pull the box up once it has harvested shrimp. The Arbor knot is an easy, reliable knot often used to haul in a full shrimp box. Anchor knots are simply a series of loops. Start by looping the rope around a plank twice. Then feed the rope through the two loops to secure the knot.
