How to Hook a Yum Crawfish

Crawfish, also known as crawdads, are popular baits when going for bass. A crawfish represents a gourmet dinner to a bass and is a highly sought after meal by the fish. Yum makes a series of artificial crawfish style lures. Like their living counterpart, Yum crawfish have a carapace where the hook is placed to get maximum motion for fishing. In the water, crawfish propel themselves backwards by squirting water from their mouth, much like a jet.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the Yum crawfish and hold it with the carapace (back) up. Grip your hook with the other hand.

    • 2

Push the hook down and through the rubber plastic of the Yum crawfish. Push the hook down through the carapace so the hook curve faces the front of the crawfish.

    • 3

Pull the hook curve down so it is out and facing toward the front of the lure. Make sure the hook's barb is not tangled in any rubber of the Yum lure.

    • 4

Sprinkle scent (available at outdoor fishing stores) on the Yum crawfish to enhance the chance of landing a bass.
